Then be prepared to pay out the "wazoo" for them, they cost around 500 bucks.

I can't see paying $500 for Gerber kitchen knives. Wusthoff or Shun, yes. But Gerber?

$500 isn't all that much for a set of knives.

    Re: Best Kitchen knives?

If you have the means to make the initial investment, buying one set of very high quality knives will save $ in the long run. Buying the right ones means you'll never have to buy another set again.

Not to mention there's a difference in performance between cheap knives and good knives. A knife that cant keep an edge is more likely to cause you to injure yourself because you have to use force to make the cut.

They are made out of the same metal they make their sporting knives from. A very high grade of stainless surgical steel.

See I actually differ from Burley on the RADA versus Chicago knives for the money. Neither compares to really high quality knives, but I would just as soon use the RADA than those Chicago from what I have used of them. I thought all of them basically sucked.

As said before ceramic knives are the way to go (other than for butchering meat). I have 3 ceramic knives and wouldnt trade them for anything else.

    Re: Best Kitchen knives?

Wusthoff or Shun, can't lose either way. I've found nothing to beat them, and I've had my hands on a crazy amount of knives. I prefer Shun, but not by alot. I butcher meat, and I have a knife roll full of both. Great, great knives.

And there is a Kitchen store in Kingsport. It's down on Center Street(?). Not sure exactly if thats the name, but same street its on the same street Morrell's Music and Krispy Kreme used to be on. It's called Mary's Kitchen Shop. They sell both Shun and Wusthoff knives. If you work in the food industry you get 15 percent off, but I'm sure you could just tell them that even if you don't they ask for no proof.
